We are delighted to announce Rosabel’s Rooms as the official Charity Partner to The Galway International Food and Craft Festival. Rosabel’s Rooms take a multi faceted approach to supporting families that have lost of a child. We are proud to use the festival as a platform to support the charity and the fantastic work they are doing in comforting so many families.
Suzanne Monroe explains what the Charity is and how it came to being.
Rosabel’s Rooms is a child loss project in collaboration with The Irish Hospice Foundation. It was established in memory of our beloved daughter, Rosabel Monroe, who died suddenly and unexpectedly in April 2017, aged just sixteen months.
Although our little girl died at home as she slept, she was raced to University Hospital Galway (UHG), in the hope that somehow her life could be saved. Sadly, this was not possible. That night we spent seventeen hours cradling our deceased child in a confined, inappropriate area, off the resuscitation room where the medical staff had tried desperately to save her life. This is why we vowed to ensure that other families should be accommodated in designated Bereavement Rooms, when a loved one, young or old, dies suddenly and unexpectedly, anywhere in Ireland.
Alongside this, Rosabel’s Rooms provides direct financial and therapeutic supports to families in the aftermath of child loss.
OurRoom-to-Heal Fundprovides financial support to bereaved families to facilitate help with funeral costs, taking time off work to grieve, or whatever the needs of the family might be. For some it may be a short city break with their other children, who are experiencing the devastating trauma of losing a beloved sibling. We are currently receiving referrals from Temple Street Hospital and other childrens’ groups around Ireland on a regular basis.
OurRoom-to-Talk Fundenables anyone impacted by child loss to attend for psychotherapy free of charge, with one of our listed skilled and experienced psychotherapists or psychologists, who are located all around Ireland.
Because of our collaboration with The Irish Hospice Foundation, we have no staff or administration costs. Therefore all funds raised go directly towards supporting bereaved families, in the aftermath of child loss.
Huge thanks for your time and support,
Suzanne & Gary Monroe
